A new rumour says that Samsung plans to develop in-house GPUs soon. It may debut as early as 2026 alongside the Exynos 2600.

Samsung partnered with AMD to bring RDNA GPUs to the Exynos 2200, Exynos 2400 and even the mid-range Exynos 1480. The upcoming Exynos 2500 is expected to follow suit, but it may be the last of its kind. Noted X leakers Roland Quandt and @OreXDA have learned that Samsung plans to develop its own GPU soon, with Quandt stating the company aims to launch it alongside the Exynos 2600 in 2026.

OreXDA revealed the information in 2023, indicating that it has been in the works for a while. In all likelihood, the new GPU will still use RDNA as a foundation and build upon it, similar to what Qualcomm did with Adreno (which is an anagram for Radeon). Unfortunately, there is very little information about the endeavour, but more details could emerge later.

A rumour from last year also suggested Samsung was planning to restart in-house CPU development after shuttering the department in 2020. While Samsung denied it shortly after, Qualcomm's shift to Oryon may prompt Samsung to follow suit sooner rather than later. Therefore, it is likely for a future Exynos SoC to use components fully developed by Samsung, but that may not happen anytime soon.
