Earlier this year, Dell introduced the XPS 13 9340, an Intel Meteor Lake-based machine that replaced the XPS 13 Plus. Now, a reliable source has revealed Dell's plans to release the XPS 13 9345, in what would be the first Qualcomm Snapdragon X option for the XPS series.

It seems that the XPS series will join the Inspiron 14 Plus on Dell's journey into Snapdragon X-powered laptops. To recap, roughly two weeks have passed since the latter surfaced on Geekbench with 16 GB of RAM and the X1E-80-100, Qualcomm's mid-tier Snapdragon X Elite option between the X1E-84-100 at the top end and X1E-78-100 at the low end. Incidentally, official-looking images of the Inspiron 14 Plus have also now appeared online, coverage of which we have provided separately.

According to Windows Report, Dell is planning to offer the device pictured above and below as the XPS 13 9345. For context, Dell currently sells the XPS 13 as the '9340', having ditched the 'Plus' moniker in January when it updated the machine to Intel Meteor Lake processors, among other changes from the XPS 13 Plus 9320. In fact, the 9345 would be the first '5' offering for the XPS 13 series since the XPS 13 9315 (curr. $899 renewed on Amazon), a thinner but less powerful alternative to the XPS 13 9320 with a different design to boot.

Based on the images below, the XPS 13 9345 carries across the design of the XPS 13 9340 in full. In fact, one would be hard-pressed to visually distinguish the pair. For example, the XPS 13 9345 retains its sibling's invisible trackpad, as well as its capacitive function row and full-width keyboard layout. Additionally, Dell equips the XPS 13 9345 with a mere two USB Type-C ports; the MicroSD card reader and 3.5 mm jack of older XPS 13 models remain absent.

Unfortunately, we cannot make out whether the XPS 13 9345 is actively cooled. Although fan vents cannot be seen in the images that Windows Report has released so far, the same is true of the actively cooled XPS 13 9340 from certain angles. Likewise, it is unclear when Dell will announce the XPS 13 9345, let alone with which Snapdragon X series chipsets. However, it appears that the first wave of Snapdragon X series devices will arrive later this month, with the Surface Laptop 6Surface Pro 10 and ASUS Vivobook S 15 OLED all expected to land on May 20.
