With the MP600 Mini R2, Corsair presents one of the fastest M.2-2230 SSDs in the world. Despite a length of just 30 millimeters, the SSD achieves data rates of up to 7,000 MB/s when connected via PCIe 4.0.

The brand new Corsair MP600 Mini R2 is currently the fastest M.2-2230 SSD on the market, as Corsair advertises a maximum read rate of 7,000 MB/s and a write rate of 6,200 MB/s. To achieve this speed, Corsair combines 176-layer TLC NAND with a Phison E27T SSD controller.

This theoretically supports 8 TB SSDs with data rates of up to 7,400 MB/s. The MP600 Mini R2 is designed to achieve random writes with 1 million IOPS and 750,000 IOPS for reads. It is connected to the system via PCIe 4.0 x4, meaning that the laptop, desktop, or gaming handheld must support the corresponding PCIe standard to utilize the full speed of the storage. According to Corsair, the MP600 Mini R2 achieves a service life of 1,200 TBW or 1.5 million operating hours.

The manufacturer puts the power consumption during use at 5.6 watts, with less than 3 milliwatts consumed in standby mode. With these performance promises, Corsair sets new standards for 30-millimeter short M.2 SSDs and offers users of devices that do not have space for larger SSDs a potentially interesting performance upgrade. M.2-2230 SSDs are mainly used in gaming handhelds such as the Steam Deck and occasionally in laptops and Microsoft Surface products.

Prices and availability

The Corsair MP600 Mini R2 is currently only available with a capacity of 2 TB. The cheapest offer can currently be found in the Corsair online shop for 264.99 euros, on Amazon the SSD is currently offered for approximately 215 euros.
