Blackview is now offering a new rugged smartphone, the BL9000 Pro, that comes with a high-resolution thermal imaging camera, 5G and an up-to-date operating system. The main camera also features optical image stabilization.

The Blackview BL9000 Pro is now available for a price of just under $550, with delivery scheduled to begin on May 16. Prospective buyers are advised to find out exactly what the shipping conditions are, particularly in regard to delivery times and import fees.

The BL9000 Pro is a rugged smartphone that is advertised as being IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certified, thus offering a broad spectrum of protection against damage of various kinds, such as drops. The model is 17 mm thick and weighs 412 gm.

The 6.78-inch, 120 Hz display is reinforced by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has a resolution of 1080 x 2460. A MediaTek Dimensity 8020-SoC is installed, which not only promises high computing power, but also comes with a 5G cellular modem. Dual SIM operation is supported. The RAM measures 12 GB, while the UFS 3.1 storage is more than ample at 512 GB, but cannot be expanded.

The 50 MP main camera has optical image stabilization, while the 50 MP front camera unsurprisingly does not. There is also a FLIR Lepton 3.5 thermal imaging camera with a resolution of 160 x 120 at the back. The 8800 mAh battery can be charged quickly via USB-C with up to 120 watts. The installed Doke OS 4.0 is based on Android 14, but experience has shown that buyers should not expect a consistent supply of operating system updates.

It is quite likely that the Blackview BL9000 Pro will also be offered internationally in the future. Those not willing to import may find a cheaper alternative in the Blackview BV8900 at Amazon.
