Astounding Nintendo Switch 2 leak from accessory maker seemingly confirms magnetic Joy-Con and display upgrade
An astounding page of details about the Nintendo Switch 2 has been posted by Mobapad, which produces third-party Switch controllers. Some of the information has been rumored or leaked before, but put all together in such a way by a company that might actually know real things about the successor of the Nintendo Switch (curr. $299.99 on Amazon), or have links with people that do, has been a complete surprise. Even the name of the console is still not officially confirmed, with “Attach” and “Switch Attach” recently growing in popularity as contenders for the real name of the Switch 2.
The Mobapad article makes it clear that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support current and original Joy-Con/Pro controllers despite the next-generation device supposedly coming with support for magnetic controllers. Next is a mention of backwards compatibility, with the Switch 2 being capable of playing OG Switch games but not vice versa – second-generation game cartridges will not work on the first-generation console. The article then leaps back to discussing the magnetically attachable Joy-Con, with a new button appearing on the rear of the controllers and another new button placed on the front of the right-hand peripheral (see images below).
A bit of Nintendo Switch 2 design and connectivity talk follows, with the claim that there will still be a USB-C port present for connectivity while the base (dock) has more rounded corners. An adjustable kickstand with a metal damping bracket is purportedly included for a greater range of stand support, too, while 4K output capability is on board. As for the Nintendo Switch 2 display, according to the post it will be 8 inches in size and offer a 1080p resolution while in portable mode, which is certainly a step up from the OG Switch (6.2-inch) and even the newer Switch OLED Model (7-inch), which offers 720p in handheld mode and 1080p when docked.
