Apple announced the latest version of macOS, dubbed macOS 15 'Sequoia', today at its annual WWDC event, alongside updates to iOS, iPadOS, VisionOS, tvOS, and watchOS. While this update is not as significant of an overhaul as iOS 18, the latest version of macOS introduces a good number of useful new features, including the widely anticipated 'Apple Intelligence' AI functionalities.
One of the biggest features to be added to macOS Sequoia is the new continuity feature named iPhone Mirroring. As the name suggests, this new feature will function as a screen mirroring software on steroids, allowing users to view, interact with, and control their iPhones completely hands-free. Unlike other screen mirroring apps such as Splashtop, Apple's iPhone Mirroring will allow users to control their iPhone while it remains locked, ensuring both security and privacy. Unsurprisingly, all iPhone apps will be accessible, and audio will be routed through the Mac. Moreover, drag-and-drop functionality will also be present, enabling seamless file transfer between iPhone and Mac.

Another significant and exciting update is to the Apple Game Porting Toolkit, which has now been updated with version 2. The new version allows for improved compatibility along with shader debugging tools. This is indeed promising news for Mac gaming enthusiasts, especially if more game studios are willing to port their games to the Mac platform, which now appears to be easier than ever. Among the many upcoming titles for Apple Silicon, Ubisoft, a prominent game studio, has announced that its upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on the platform, which is undoubtedly a big win for Mac gaming.
Apart from these, macOS Sequoia comes with several new handy features, including automatic window sizing and tiling (finally!) with keyboard shortcuts, a dedicated iCloud-enabled Passwords app, presenter mode on video calls with custom backgrounds and window isolation, AI-assisted reader mode within Safari, and a whole plethora of 'Apple Intelligence' features which we will be covering in detail soon.
