ASUS has announced a new set of updates for the ROG Ally. Arriving later today, the updates include provide AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support, among other changes, which should deliver improved frame rates across the board for the popular gaming handheld.

ASUS has revealed a slew of improvements for the ROG Ally, a week after announcing a resolution and warranty extension for SD card failures. According to the company, the biggest change this time around is the addition of AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support, which AMD summarises as follows:

AFMF is a frame generation technology designed to increase frame rates and smooth movement for game winning performance. AFMF takes cutting-edge frame generation technology and integrates it right into the AMD Software driver. Even better, is that AFMF is included within HYPR-RX, so gamers simply need to enable HYPR-RX to automatically enable performance-oriented features that will further level-up FPS and responsiveness.

ASUS will distribute AFMF through iGPU driver V31.0.24027.1012, which also introduces a bug fix that caused certain textures to become invisible when playing Final Fantasy X HD Remaster. Please note that AFMF will not be enabled automatically. Instead, you must open the AMD Software once iGPU driver V31.0.24027 is installed, after which AFMF will be listed under 'Graphics' within the 'Gaming' sub-menu.

Additionally, the company is rolling out Armory Crate SE (ACSE) 1.4.13, MCU 317 and Hotplug Controller 3.0.0, which will join UnifyDGDll v1.0.0.20 that arrived earlier this month. Based on ASUS' official changelog, all these updates, apart from UnifyDGDll v1.0.0.20, should be available to download later today. For reference, the updates contain the following changes themselves:

  • ACSE 1.4.13

    • Enhanced the display speed of the Game Library.
    • Added information to the Real-time Monitor overlay when using AFMF.
    • Resolved a sporadic issue where AMD graphics card driver updates in the Update Center could experience timeouts.
    • Expanded Keymap functionality to support the assignment of keys as trigger keys (requires MCU v317 or newer). For example, the M1 button can be assigned as the Left Trigger.
