2.3 lb notebook with Core Ultra 7 165H, Thunderbolt 4 and 65 Wh battery: Dynabook unveils Portégé X40L-M
The Dynabook Portégé X40L-M retains the design of last year's model virtually unchanged, ranging from the striking blue chassis, the large trackpad to the power button with integrated fingerprint sensor. Like its predecessor, the new model weighs just 1.05 kilograms (approx. 2.3 pounds) with a height of 15.9 mm thanks to its magnesium alloy.
Despite the low weight, Dynabook installs a 65 Wh battery, which should achieve longer runtimes thanks to Intel Meteor Lake-H instead of Raptor Lake-P. The device is available with CPUs from the Core Ultra 5 125H to the Core Ultra 7 165H, meaning it is equipped with four to six performance cores, eight efficiency cores and the fast Intel Arc iGPU. This is flanked by up to 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM and a PCIe SSD with a maximum capacity of 2 TB.
The device has a 14-inch IPS panel in 16:10 format with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. A webcam with privacy shutter, dual microphones and an infrared sensor for Windows login via facial recognition is located just above the screen. Quad speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, WiFi 6E and a microSD card reader are also standard hardware fare, as is the relatively wide selection of ports, led by two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, two USB-A ports and an Ethernet port.
Price and availability
The Dynabook Portégé X40L-M is set to be launched in the US, starting at $1799.99. Information about global availability is still pending.
